2019 World Industrial Design Conference was grandly held in Yantai, Shandong Province from October 18 to 20, with the theme of “Design Sparks Innovation Engine”. More than 2,000 delegates from over 40 countries and regions were all represented, including representatives from government agencies and organizations, experts and scholars, entrepreneurs, designers and other innovation leaders. Taking design industry as the core, effective discussions were held to ensure information sharing, exchange and cooperation on replacing old growth drivers with new ones and promoting high-quality development.

Wang Jiangping, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Wang Shujian, Deputy Governor of Shandong Provincial People's Government, Long Yongtu, Former Chief Negotiator and Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Zhang Shuping, Secretary of the Yantai Municipal Committee, and Heidi Kröemker, Chairman of the Sino-German Design Expert Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered speeches. Li Yong, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, sent a video of congratulations. Chenfei, Mayor of Yantai hosted the opening ceremony.

Industrial Design World Expo was Shining at WIDC with the Largest Scale and the Highest Level

China Industrial Design Association with more than 40 design organizations around the world jointly organize Industrial Design World Expo to display the design-driven innovation industry by using new ideas and new models. More than 2,000 innovative enterprises, leading design institutions, international leading designers and over 200 well-known universities gathered in the 30,000m² exhibition area. In particular, the Expo presented achievements of “Design for Poverty Alleviation” for the first time. And it has drawn 100,000 people all over the world in two days, which not only became a pinnacle of the global design industry but is also building the innovation and entrepreneurship community.
